Volunteer Need
OUTREACH COMMITTEE NEED (Volunteer position/Unpaid)
One of the biggest reasons cited for joining PMI-Milwaukee is to find networking opportunities. Our Board is also looking for ways to provide more of those opportunities to members. To that end, the Board is organizing an Outreach plan in 2010 to more rigorously and systemically find partner organizations that we can mutually benefit from. We are breaking up this effort into smaller portions of work for volunteers to help specifically lead. Marketing material and, in most cases, points-of-contact support will be provided. This would be a great reason/excuse for you to personally reach out to new people and build relationships for both yourself and the chapter. The specific Outreach sub portions include:
1. Community Outreach - Organizations that serve a charitable or community purpose
2. Technology Based Outreach - Establish an internet-based presence to communicate our key message and facilitate networking for members (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, and others)
3. Higher Education Outreach - Organizations of higher learning that include project management as specific degree or component of a higher degree
4. Government Outreach - Government agencies that may have specific project management training/education needs for its employees
5. Industry/Professional Society Outreach - Other professional organizations in the geographic area where networking/partnerships are considered strategic for our members
Specific volunteer expectations include:
· PMI-Milwaukee chapter membership is required for Outreach committee participation
· Attend bi-monthly conference calls/meeting with VP's of Outreach and Marketing to provide updates/coordinate efforts (1-2 hours every other month)
· Desire to work with others in helping to promote PMI-Milwaukee and how it can be of value to other organizations.
· For Technology Based Outreach interest: familiarity with internet based social networking and collaboration tools
As an Outreach Committee member, you will be working with Brian Carter as the team leader (and VP -Outreach), and will receive 5 PDUs for one year of service on this committee.
